Practice Makes Perfect
The nursing practice lab is where new nursing students learn the basic skills
of their profession. Here, a nursing instructor (circa 1920s-'30s) demonstrates the
fundamentals of nursing care to the class. While today’s practice labs are more
high-tech and sophisticated, they remain the place where some of the same basic
skills -- such as dressing a wound and drawing blood -- are taught.
