BUILDING TOUR: RESEARCH LABS
Groundbreaking research
is the hallmark of any quality school of nursing. The Johns Hopkins University
School of Nursing is eighth among the top nursing schools for securing federal
research grants.
The school's Research Laboratory, housed on the lower level of the building,
is comprised of 3,000 sq. ft. dedicated to nursing research projects that
incorporate basic biologic science methods.

The laboratory consists of a dark room, microscopy facilities (stereo,
confocal, and fluorescent), tissue culture facilities, core equipment area,
electrophysiologic lab, vivarium, cold room, utility area (autoclave and water
purification facility), and bench space for funded faculty researchers and their
students.
Research Centers at the School of Nursing
The Center for Nursing Research and Sponsored Projects
(CNR) opened in 1990 and is located in Suite 306 in the School of Nursing. The
CNR provides support services to faculty and students. The center also
coordinates research resources and consultation services for grant submission
within the school and encourages leadership for nursing research.
The Center on Health Disparities Research
(CHDR) was created in 2001 with a five-year grant received from the National
Institutes of Health (NIH) with the purpose of identifying and eliminating
health disparities and enhancing health disparities research.
The Center for Collaborative Internvention Research
(CCIR) is the newest Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing initiative to
advance health science by designing and testing effective health interventions.
