A Day in the Life of a
DNP Student

CCNE Site Visit: October 19-21, 2009

The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program will undergo the accreditation process with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) this fall. The site visit is scheduled for October 19-21, 2009.

Students, alumni, faculty, and the practice community are invited to provide input into the deliberation of the evaluation team. Written and signed comments concerning the school and its academic programs will be accepted by the CCNE until September 15, 2009. Please mail your comments to:

About the DNP Program
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is a practice-focused doctoral program designed to prepare expert nurse clinicians, administrators, and executive leaders to improve health and health care outcomes. The focus is on innovative and evidence based nursing practice, applying research processes to decision-making, and translating credible research findings to increase the effectiveness of both direct and indirect nursing practice.

The 38-credit DNP program is a post-master's option, offered in a convenient executive-style format designed for the busy working professional. The program can be completed in four semesters of full-time study, integrating approximately two weeks of on-site classes each semester with online and virtual learning experiences. Part-time study will be offered on a space available basis.

Apply now to this program The DNP is designed for nurses involved in any advanced practice role including but not limited to: clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, nurse anesthetist, public health practitioner, nurse executive, nurse informatician, and health policy analyst.

The DNP begins in the fall only.

Mentorship Program

The Nurse Leader Executive Mentorship Program has been established by the School of Nursing to provide extraordinary executive mentorship opportunities for students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. This opportunity is for students entering year two of the the DNP program. The mentorship program enables three exceptional DNP students to participate each year.
