RN to BS BACCALAUREATE OPTION

The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing provides attractive options to RNs who are interested in obtaining a baccalaureate in nursing, whether or not they possess a bachelor's degree in another field.

Registered Nurses who Do Not possess a bachelor's degree

Registered nurses who do not already possess a bachelor's degree and are interested in pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing may apply to the traditional option leading to a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with a major in Nursing.Students transfer to the School of Nursing after successful completion of the 60 credits of prerequisite coursework from any accredited college or university and successful completion of the NCLEX.Students who do not have a baccalaureate degree, a minimum of 33 of the 65 credits in the upper division must be taken at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.Credits can be earned by challenge examinations through Excelsior College (www.excelsior.edu) and instructor-made tests.

Statistics

The statistics course should include topics of correlation and linear regression; experimental design such as t-tests, analysis of varianc e a nd chi-square.The best departments in which to find the type of statistics we're looking for are psychology, sociology, education, biology and mathematics.The departments whose statistics courses are more theory-based and lack the experimental design component are business, management and economics.

Electives

10-16

Electives may be selected from any academic discipline.Credits in studio or performing arts are not acceptable.Only one physical education course will b e a ccepted.

Registered Nurses who possess a bachelor's degree in a FIELD other than nursing

Registered nurses who possess a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing, and are interested in pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing may apply to the traditional option leading to a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with a major in Nursing.Students transfer to the School of Nursing after successful completion of the required prerequisite coursework from any accredited college or university and successful completion of the NCLEX.Students who have a baccalaureate degree in another field, a minimum of 20 of the 56 credits in the upper division must be taken at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.Credits can be earned by challenge examinations through Excelsior College (www.excelsior.edu) and instructor-made tests.
