I graduated from Miami University in Oxford Ohio in 1986 with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. I received a Master of
Science Degree in Exercise Science and Health Studies from Miami
University in 1988.
My research interests include cardiovascular disease, quality of life
and health outcomes in cardiovascular disease.

Nina Fredland
Nina Fredland received a BS in Nursing from Niagara University and an

Sharon Kozachik
Sharon Kozachik is a 1985 graduate of Lansing Community College, in
Michigan, with a major in Nursing. In December 1991, she graduated from
the University of Michigan-Flint School of Nursing with a Baccalaureate
degree in Nursing. In June 1998, Sharon graduated from Michigan State
University with a Masters of Science in Nursing degree from
Gerontological Nurse Practitioner program. Her research interests
include the impact of cancer and cancer treatment on the elderly and
their family caregivers, cancer symptoms throughout the disease and
treatment trajectories, symptom management strategies and palliative

Kathryn Laughon
Kathryn Laughon is a 1998 honors graduate of the University of
Virginia School of Nursing, in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she
earned her bachelor of science in nursing. She earned her masters of
science in nursing there in 1999. She entered the Johns Hopkins
University, School of Nursing doctoral program in 2000, where she is
currently a doctoral candidate. Her research interests include violence
against women, sexually transmitted disease prevention, mental illness,

Kathleen Michael
Kathleen Michael is a 1975 graduate of the University of Washington
baccalaureate program in nursing. She attained her MSN degree from
Seattle Pacific University in 1996, after progressive clinical
experiences in trauma, public health, and rehabilitation. She is
pursuing PhD studies at the Johns Hopkins University, with an emphasis
on rehabilitation of persons with stroke. Her research focuses on the
relationship between fitness, gait deficit severity, fatigue, and
ambulatory activity patterns in chronic hemiplegic stroke patients.

Kristin Zawacki
Kristin Zawacki graduated from Georgetown University School of
