PhD Student Scholarship Opportunities and Guidelines
2006-2007

All students are expected to comply with rules, regulations, and policies of the School of Nursing and Johns Hopkins University.  Students who attend full-time (≥ 9 credits in Fall or Spring Semester, or 3 credits in Summer Term) may be awarded:

• 100% tuition Scholarship.
• Stipend up to $18,000 per year.
• One year contract, renewable for a second year contingent upon available monies and satisfactory progress in the program.
• Stipend of $3,000 - $5,000 for summer term is contingent upon available monies.
• Federal and State taxes are withheld; No FICA is withheld
• Two year maximum contract

Funding for PhD students is referred to as a Scholarship. All scholarships are contingent upon the availability of funds.

Scholarship recipients must make satisfactory progress as defined in the PhD Admissions, Progression and Graduate Committee policies as well as the procedures for academic progression.

All students will be mentored in securing external sources of funding for the conduct of their dissertation.

It is expected that full-time PhD students will prepare and submit an application for external funding by the conclusion of the 1st academic year.  Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, Center for Nursing Research policies and guidelines should be followed.  See: http://www.son.jhmi.edu/research/CNR/

MSN/PhD Students

Students enrolled in the MSN/PhD program may be awarded scholarship support for doctoral level coursework. They also are eligible for master's scholarships. Upon completion of the MSN program, the terms listed for PhD students apply.
