The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing is the
only nursing school in the United States with a baccalaureate Peace Corps
Fellows Program.
Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) are
given special consideration for admission and are eligible to apply for
fellowship funding if they agree to participate in the school's
Community Outreach Program and other Peace Corps Fellows Program
activities.
Since 1991, the School of
Nursing has graduated over 250 RPCVs.
The number of fellows nearly
doubled during the 2005-2006 academic year, with 47 baccalaureate
students participating in the program. Over 20
past undergraduate fellows are still at the school, continuing their
education through Hopkins' graduate nursing programs.
