Description of main volunteer activities:
I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay from 1998 to 2000. My title was Crop Extentionist which entailed preserving the quality of their nutrient-depleted soil so that the subsistence farmers in my community of 200 could increase their crop yields for their ever growing families. During my two years I started a women’s group, to improve nutrition and hygiene for their families; a horticulture group, to produce vegetables for sale in a nearby village market; and other smaller projects based on individual requests such as bee-keeping and farm animal nutrition.
