Description of main volunteer activities:
In my first year I served in a small rural village in southern Niger. In the village I worked on many small projects such as introducing hybrid crops, sanitation education, building a latrine for the school and vaccinating livestock. In my second year of service I served as the Volunteer Leader for the Dosso region. In that role I worked for a team of thirty volunteers the manger, mentor and liaison between volunteers, their villages, state level government officials and the national Peace Corp office.
How Peace Corps service influenced decision to go into nursing and future plans:
An interest in working in health care is something I took with me to my Peace Corps service. What I learned from my service was that I had really enjoyed and was inspired by working internationally and in the field of development, a career in nursing will help me to combine these.
