Description of main volunteer activities:
My main duties included teaching middle and high school students English as it is part of the Beninese national curriculum and working with Beninese counterparts to improve lesson plans. In addition to these responsibilities, I worked with other volunteers and Beninese counterparts to improve gender disparities in education as many young women do not finish middle school.
How Peace Corps service influenced decision to go into nursing and future plans:
In my community I observed the negative effects of the lack of access to healthcare or resources limited one''s quality of life. One of my best friends in Benin was a nurse and she is part of my inspiration in becoming a nurse. I hope to one day collaborate with her.
