Description of main volunteer activities:
I taught English as a second language at a high school in Kerouane, Guiena. I also ran ---the village branch of APROFIG, an after school girls group that promotes girls education and empowerment.
How Peace Corps service influenced decision to go into nursing and future plans:
In Guinea I began to see the ways that basic health education affects individuals, families, and whole communities. Through conversations with friends and my host family I began to make connections between wellness and access to information. I realized that I wanted to be a part of the creative problem-solving process in Guinea and beyond. I hope to purse public health and work as a health educator in underserved communities.
