NR110.631 Nursing in Global Humanitarian Relief
Description: This one-week intensive course is an introduction to the nurse's role in international/global humanitarian relief. It is designed to give an overview of the skills needed to participate in providing health services to large populations in humanitarian emergencies. The students will be introduced to methods for assessing emergency situations in the field, skills needed to develop and implement specific health programs to assist displaced populations, and tools to monitor the adequacy of the service being provided. The ethical and political implications of actions during the emergency will be discussed.
