NR110.403 The Research Process in Nursing
Description: This course analyzes the scientific process with emphasis on its application in nursing. The steps of the research process will be presented as well as the major research designs, including experimental and quasi-experimental studies, surveys and participation observation designs. Students will review selected examples of nursing research and will develop a critique of a nursing research study. Emphasis is placed on developing an understanding of the logical process of research, on reasoning, on the scientific rigor necessary for carrying out studies of nursing interest and on critically reading and using nursing research in nursing practice. Prerequisites: None
