NR110.421 Cultural Dimensions of Health Care
Description: This course will assist students to examine how their own cultural heritage may affect the way they view and interact with clients from other cultures. Health beliefs, health seeking behaviors and health practices will be presented emphasizing the cultural phenomena presented in the Giger-Davidhizar model. Participants will be encouraged to draw upon their cross-cultural experience in group discussions. Communication skills and transcultural assessment tools presented will assist the health care professional to give culturally competent care.
