They are among a small group of SON students spending their break on a service trip, working in medical units, visiting hospitals and helping to rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Johns Hopkins Nursing in Haiti Dr. Elizabeth D. Sloand, an assistant professor in the School of Nursing, traveled to Haiti as part of the multidisciplinary Hopkins Go Team, the Johns Hopkins version of a disaster relief team. She spent more than two weeks in Haiti following the Jan. 12 earthquake there, caring for patients at the University Hospital in Port-au-Prince and at a clinic in nearby Gressier. Assistant Professor Dr. Laura Taylor Dr. Laura Taylor is an expert in the use of computer-based information technologies to advance both research and education, primarily in the area of organ donation and transplantation. She came to the School of Nursing as a post-doctoral fellow and visiting faculty member and currently is exploring the use of a web-based intervention to educate and support family caregivers of living kidney donors following surgery.
