Living Your Life through Nursing

On Thursday, May 26, 187 graduates assembled for the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing Diploma and Award Ceremony. Dean Martha N. Hill presided over the ceremony, presenting 105 bachelor of science (BS) diplomas to members of the traditional class of 2005. The 127 members of the accelerated class of 2005 receive their BS degrees at a separate ceremony held in July.
At the May commencement, 60 graduates received their master of science in nursing (MSN) diplomas, with an additional seven receiving joint degrees in nursing and business administration (MSN/MBA), and seven more receiving joint degrees in nursing and public health (MSN/MPH). Eight doctoral degrees were conferred; five doctor of nursing science (DNSc) degrees and three doctor of philosophy (PhD) degrees.
In her remarks to the graduates, Dean Hill congratulated them on choosing nursing, “the most exciting career opportunity in the health professions,” and urged all to explore every opportunity the field can offer. “This is your life—live it, through nursing—and be the best you can be!”
