Dean's Lecture – September 21, 2004

C. Alicia Georges, EdD, RN, FAAN, will present "The Impact of the Nursing Shortage on Quality of Life in African American Communities."

Dr. Georges is an educator, practitioner, and community activist who has spoken throughout the United States, Africa, South America, and the Caribbean. She currently lectures and coordinated the RN sequence at the Department of Nursing at Lehman College of the City University of New York. She was the fifth president of the National Black Nurses Association (1987-1991) and is currently the president of the National Black Nurses Foundation and the secretary-treasurer of the board of the International Society on Hypertension in Blacks (ISHIB). Dr. Georges has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards for her continued work in nursing, health care, and the development of health, social, and public policies.
