The Data Safety and Monitoring Board

The Data Safety and Monitoring Board (DSMB) serves as an advisory board to the investigators of the Breastfeeding Study on issues of data accuracy, participant safety, data collection protocols, and adverse event reporting. This committee meets every 6 months. The investigators report on the progress of the study, adverse events and any safety issues that need to be brought to the DSMB’s attention. The DSMB then convenes, and makes any recommendations to the investigators for protocol improvement, or reports they would like to see at the next meeting.
