The Importance of Provider Support for the Breastfeeding Family

Emotional and instrumental support are positively correlated with improved six week postpartum outcomes, such as confidence in ability to cope with parenting tasks and satisfaction with parenting and infant care.

Among low-income minority women research shows that lack of support hinders the breastfeeding process, and more support would increase the rate of breastfeeding.
