CCIR COMMITTEES
The Executive Committee, composed of the
Center Director, Associate Director, Core Directors, and three administrators of
the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, assists the Directors of the
CCIR Cores in making scientific and administrative
decisions.
The External Advisory Committee
consists of six nationally recognized scientists with significant
experience in the development and management of research centers or whose
research has focused on various aspects of collaborative interventions and
related methodologies. This Committee meets to evaluate and advise on the
overall research programs of the CCIR, the effectiveness of Center operations,
and the Center’s progress towards meeting its goals and objectives.
The Merit Evaluation Committee
provides the application review and funding recommendations for the pilot /
feasibility study applications submitted annually. The Committee includes
scientists external to the School of Nursing and may also solicit input from
other scientists with expertise in the proposed research area. The Merit
Evaluation Committee prepares written reviews for feedback to the applicants and
forwards these reviews along with the merit scores to the Executive Committee
for funding decisions. Following the Executive Committee’s funding decision,
Merit Evaluation Committee Members are available to meet with investigators
(funded and nonfunded) to provide constructive suggestions to improve the
quality of their proposed projects so that revised proposals may merit
resubmission on another cycle.
A standing Data Safety and Monitoring Board
(DSMB) advises the CCIR on accuracy and reliability of data, data ownership and
management responsibility, potential benefits or potential damage from the data
and decision on use of the data, control of data access, and data retention and
storage.
