CCIR CORES

The three Cores seek to generate the most relevant research questions and the most promising innovative interventions that creative, collaborative research teams can develop.


The Administrative Core coordinates the the use of  Center resources and manages the pilot study program. The specific aims of the Administrative Core are to:

  • Promote collaboration and maximize scientific productivity through use of CCIR and University facilities and resources.
  • Assure that the objectives of the CCIR are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Administer the pilot/feasibility grants program, providing administrative and mentoring support to the pilot project investigators.
  • Ensure optimal use of Center funds.

The Intervention Core facilitates the development of knowledge related to both the design and implementation of interventions, and to the dissemination of findings to professional and lay audiences.  The specific aims of the Intervention Core are to:

  • Provide consultation in the development, standardization, and individualization of interventions to address emerging health problems.
  • Assist faculty in the development and implementation of rigorous research designs and methods for intervention studies.
  • Provide consultation in the development of interdisciplinary collaborative research teams.
  • Provide consultation and support to faculty on publishing and presenting their research findings to target audiences.
  • Facilitate translation of research into practice by use of practice application packages and by ongoing communication with target audiences.

The Evaluation Core provides the critical consultation, technological support, and mentorship to strengthen the evaluative aspects of intervention research. The specific aims of the Evaluation Core are to:

  • Assist faculty in selecting, analyzing and interpreting health, quality of life, and cost outcomes.
  • Provide statistical consultation.
  • Provide technological support for data management and maintenance of data integrity.
  • Assist faculty in the analysis of the psychometric properties of instruments.
  • Provide consultation on the design of process evaluations.
