About The Center on Health Disparities Research

Enhancing health disparities research through culturally sensitive nursing interventions and development of instruments that address populations of health disparities.

The CHDR works to both advance our understanding of health disparities and to expand the cadre of nurse researchers involved in minority health and health disparities research.

Through the programs of its three cores - administrative, pilot/feasibility, and research mentoring - the center aims to:

• Facilitate health disparities research. CHDR promotes research projects aimed at eliminating health disparities.

• Enhance our understanding of health disparities. CHDR researchers develop and test nursing interventions to address disparities in access to care, processes of care, and health outcomes.

• Promote development of nurse researchers. CHDR provides opportunity for scholarship, collaborative mentorship, and collaborative research, and attainment of external funding.
