CHDR Cores

The Center works to establish and coordinate an infrastructure that supports health disparity research across the life span through the activities of our three research cores: administrative, pilot/feasibility, and research mentoring. As shown in the center's organizational chart, the cores are the building blocks of the CHDR.

The Administrative Core manages the center activities and assists in coordinating efforts between the Center and partnering institutions. The Administrative Core aims to:

The Administrative Core makes its scientific and administrative decisions with the advice of the Executive Committee. Priorities for study are determined with the advice of the Scientific Advisory Committee, which evaluates the Center in terms of the overall quality of its research programs and the effectiveness of communication and collaboration efforts.

The Pilot/Feasibility Research Corefocuses on the development and testing of culturally sensitive nursing interventions and active health disparities funded research projects (health promotion, symptom management, and domestic violence) related to disparities in access to care, processes of care, and health outcomes. The Pilot/Feasibility Research Core aims to:

The Mentoring Core works to advance educational and research skills for faculty, students, and other potential nursing researchers from minority serving institutions. The Mentoring Core aims to:

  • Facilitate postdoctoral and doctoral education.

  • Provide workshops for faculty and students at both partnering institutions.
