This study focused on survival of women with breast cancer who underwent an autologous bone marrow transplant (ABMT). The purpose of the study was to determine if women diagnosed with breast cancer and who received an ABMT and a Comprehensive Coping Strategy Program (CCSP) had a greater survival rate at one year and five years compared to a control group of breast cancer patients who received the ABMT, but did not receive the CCSP. The study also investigated if there were any psychological and physiological predictors of survival.

This was a RCT study consisting of 103 patients diagnosed with breast cancer and treated with ABMT (46 in the CCSP group and 57 in the control group) with a total of 16 minorities in the sample. Regarding follow up, 10 subjects died after one year and 29 subjects died after 5 years.

The data are presently being analyzed.
