Am I Eligible?  Applicants must:

  • be a US citizen or permanent resident;
  • be an undergraduate, graduate (master’s or doctoral), or health professions student from one of our collaborating institutions;
  • be from populations underrepresented in biomedical and biobehavioral research professions, or be able to demonstrate a dedication to addressing health disparities;
  • be in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or better;
  • have demonstrated interest and potential to pursue graduate study (e.g. prior research courses & experience).

How do I Apply?

Contact your school's MHIRT Representative for application, deadline, and other related instructions. 

Submit the following application materials to the MHIRT Program Office at your institution by the stated deadline:

  • Completed Application Form
  • 2 Academic/Professional References using the Recommendation Form
  • A one page Goal Statement. Please relate your interest in health disparities research to your formal education, past and current employment (paid and/or volunteer), research interests and career aspirations.

Applications will be reviewed by an advisory committee. All applicants will be notified of their application status during the Christmas holidays.
