Services for Students
SON Career Resource Center-Located
in SON 125, the Career Resource Center is open Tuesday and Wednesday from
9-5. Services include:
Drop-in sessions: Stop by any Tuesday or Wednesday from 12n - 1pm for a
15-minute appointment. You'll be able to discuss your resume or interview
strategies, or other career-related issues. Sessions are available on a
first-come, first-served basis.
Individual appointments are also available each Wednesday to discuss
career-related topics. To schedule an appointment, call 410-955-7548 or stop
by the front desk at the SON Office of Student Services, 1st floor.
Nursing positions: View many full-time and part-time nursing positions
received by the School of Nursing. Internships are listed as well. You can
get the username and password in the Office of Admissions
and Student Services located in SON room 125 (This
resource is available to SON students and alumni only).Click

Workshops will be held throughout the academic year. Selected topics
include:
- Preparing for a Job Fair-Job fairs are an
excellent way to meet several potential employers. Learn how to make the
most of your time at a job fair and make the best impression.
- Writing a Winning Resume-Often,
your resume is the only way for a potential employer to evaluate your
skills. In this session, you'll learn how to write a strong resume-one that
clearly outlines the skills and qualifications you bring to the nursing
profession. Before you attend this session, take a look at our
on-line resources: resume guide and sample resumes.
- Interview Preparation-If
your resume works, you'll be invited for employment interviews. Learn how to
prepare for an interview and present yourself in the best possible light.

- Success in your New Job-Congratulations!!!
You've landed your first position after nursing school. Attend this
fast-paced session to learn how to start out strong in your new job.
SON Career Day: Held each
fall in November. The Career Day brings more than
100 of the nation's most prominent health facilities to campus. These
organizations are seeking qualified SON students and graduates for open
positions.
SON Library
Resources: The SON Library, located on the 3rd fl of the Nursing
building has several career books and resources available, many of which can
be borrowed overnight.
JHU inCircle: JHU
inCircle is a new online community designed for secure social and
professional networking. JHU inCircle can give you access to the global JHU
community - including alumni, students, and faculty; targeted career
opportunities not available anywhere else on the web; qualified employment
candidates; official school and chapter groups. Login now using your online
alumni ID and for FREE access. JHU inCircle has replaced HopkinsNET, the
former online directory.
