Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs reports to the Dean and works collaboratively with the assistant/associate deans, department chairs, program directors, faculty, and leadership of the university to promote the mission, values and strategic goals of the School of Nursing, University and profession. This is a faculty position that will be processed through the appointment, promotion, and tenure committee at rank.
Major Responsibilities
Excellence

Provides innovative leadership and ensures the integrity of the academic programs.

Leads the planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of program curricula.

Monitors national, regional and local trends in nursing, health care and nursing education to assure competiveness in nursing education programs.

Collaborates with department chairs to effectively and efficiently align faculty with academic programs, teaching activity and career development.

Oversees affiliations and contracts with clinical partners.

Assures compliance with accreditation and licensing requirements.

- Develops effective internal and external channels of communication.
- Assures accountability in academic programs for effective utilization of all capital, personnel and revenue resources for priorities and budget forecasts for the academic mission.
- Provides leadership for and facilitates collaboration among academic program directors, department chairs and faculty for optimal integration across missions.
Global
- Fosters strategies for external partnerships in collaboration with other SON leaders.

Collaborates with the Office of Global Nursing to optimize international opportunities for students and faculty.
Growth
- Implements effective orientation programs for full-time and part-time faculty.
- Identifies needed infrastructure and secures resources to support academic programs.
- Collaborates with Development staff and faculty to identify need for and funding of scholarships, grants and contracts, and to support academic programs and initiatives.
- Oversees special projects as assigned and directed by Dean.
Qualifications
- Earned doctoral degree and eligibility for Maryland RN licensure.
- Strong record of teaching, scholarship and service.
- Demonstrated leadership and participation in curriculum development and evaluation.
