COMMUNITY OUTREACH: DAYSPRING

Nurse works with children at Dayspring Programs

Dayspring Programs, Inc works with homeless families with a parent who is in recovery from substance abuse, helping the entire family recover together.

Through subsidized housing placements and intensive case management, Dayspring helps families to work towards stabilization and more independent living.

Students and faculty members from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing provide many services, including:

Family health assessment and intake.
Assisting families to utilize programs and services; help overcome health literacy barriers
Providing health education classes (smoking cessation, nutrition, and women's health)
Working with individual families to promote use preventative services and healthy lifestyles
Conducting home visits to monitor disease management and to assist with skills for chronic disease self-management
