COMMUNITY OUTREACH: ISAIAH WELLNESS CENTER

The Isaiah Wellness Center is housed in a two bedroom apartment in Apostolic Towers, a subsidized housing facility for low-income seniors and home to 150 residents.

Nursing students are developing an exciting "new view of old age" while providing residents with health promotion and enrichment activities aimed at enhancing their ability to live healthy and fulfilling lives.

Programs are designed to empower residents to manage health problems effectively and to foster the best possible rapport with their health care provider. Students have the opportunity to learn motivational interviewing techniques to encourage much needed lifestyle changes and to offer health promotion services in ways that effectively engage the residents.
